WHAT TO EXPECT AT DISCOVERY HOUSE

Eligibility to Participate in Treatment

In order to be eligible for treatment at Discovery House, an applicant must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • have at least a 1 year history of addiction
  • provide documentation of current physiological dependency
  • consent in writing to voluntary participation in methadone treatment
  • be able to certify pregnancy (if applicable)

In accordance with Federal Regulations, priority for access to treatment will be given to applicants who are pregnant or have tested positive for HIV.

Medical Requirements

Upon completion of admission procedures, a complete medical profile at Discovery House is required. This profile includes: medical history, physical examination, blood work, a urine sample and a tuberculosis test. Referral for HIV testing is available upon request. A prenatal care referral will be made for all pregnant women seeking treatment at Discovery House.
